This Candy Blue Koenigsegg Regera Is Set To Sell For Millions

Koenigsegg’s 80-unit run of its first hybrid hypercar concluded in 2022, but at least one especially well-optioned example of the Regera has already arrived on the collector’s aftermarket.

This 2021 Koenigsegg Regera offered by Bring a Trailer sports an extra $1 million in upgrades, meaning the owner purchased it for around $3.2 million new. Among the extras is the Candy Liquid Blue paint coat, a custom color that covers the carbon fiber and Kevlar body panels.

The color scheme is boldened further by numerous real gold flourishes inside and out, from the gold-flaked carbon fiber rims to the gold-plated fluid fill caps under the hood, which is mounted on gold-leaf-wrapped opening struts.

That elaborate presentation surrounds the Regera’s potent powertrain. Koenigsegg designed the 5.0-liter V8 to work in conjunction three axial-flux electric motors—one mounted on the engine crankshaft, and two more for each of the rear wheels. The electric motors are powered by a Rimac-designed plug-in battery pack housed in carbon fiber housing inside of the center tunnel.

The previous owner threw another $250,000 in for an Environmental Power Upgrade, bringing total output to 1,757 horsepower when running on E85 fuel. Not only is that a substantial uptick from the “base” Regera’s 1,500 horsepower, but it’s more than you get in the succeeding 1,600-hp Jesko and the upcoming 1,677-hp Gemera mega-GT.

A Ghost Package added another $285,000 upcharge to add downforce-increasing dive planes and side skirt widgets, while an “Autoskin” function allows the hood, engine cover and dihedral doors to be operated through electro-hydraulics.

Inside, the carbon-fiber steering wheel is wrapped with black leather and blue stitching, behind which is a digital instrument display showing 615 miles. The carbon fiber bucket seats are cushioned with memory foam, upholstered in black/blue leather, and embossed with Koenigsegg shields and scripts in gold.

The bid is currently listed at $2.6 million with eight days to go on Bring a Trailer, a service that started as a humble auto blog in 2007 but has since become a popular platform for selling collector cars.

If it sold right now, this 2021 Koenigsegg Regera would already be one of Bring a Trailer’s top-10 most expensive sales, a list that’s led by the $5.26 million Ferrari LaFerrari that became the most expensive car ever sold online last year.
